The Gulf waters can be extremely dangerous. Though we have taken several precautions to keep you safe, it is ultimately the responsibility of the tourists to remain vigilant and recognize the threats that persist.
We want you to return from your holiday only with joyful memories of the Gulf Shores that you can cherish forever.
Here are a few beach safety tips to protect your family and ensure your own safety:

Non-swimmers are requested to stay out of the water.
Overestimating your swimming ability might lead to mishaps as the conditions here are adverse.
Floats, inner tubes, and other inflatable toys should not be relied upon.
Utilize only the life jackets that have received approval from the Coast Guard.
Designate a water watcher and keep a tight eye on your kids.
Never swim alone.
All public beaches in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach will have lifeguards stationed seasonally (From March to September).
No lifeguard protection is currently available in the vicinity of Fort Morgan.

Stay Calm:
If you find yourself caught in a rip current, don't panic.
Swim Parallelly:
Swim parallel to the shoreline to escape the current's pull.
Find the correct angle:
Once you are free from the current, swim at an angle away from it and towards the shore.
Signal for Help:
If you are unable to make it to the coast, face the shore and signal for help by calling out or waving your arms.
Call for Help:
First, CALL 9-1-1
Reach out to the Lifeguard
Seek assistance from a lifeguard if available; if not, yell instructions on escaping the current to the person in trouble.
Throw a Floatation Device:
If possible, throw a floating rescue object towards the person in distress.
Don't Attempt a Rescue:
Avoid trying to rescue them alone, as you might get trapped in the current as well.
